Athlete of the Year Award
Synchro Swim Ontario will be acknowledging the outstanding achievements and contributions made by a Tier 1-7 or AWD synchronized swimming athlete. This individual possesses the qualities we associate with athletic achievement, good sportsmanship, and leadership within their club and community.
Nominations for this award must be submitted by a member club and endorsed by a club representative (board member or head coach). This award is typically presented at the Ontario Tier Championships Athlete Banquet.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
· The nominee must be a registered competitive athlete with Synchro Swim Ontario
· The nominee must have represented a member club in Tier 1-7, or AWD competition during the designated season
· Nomination must be based upon accomplishments achieved between May 1 of the previous season and April 30 of the current season
· One application per club will be accepted in this category
The selection committee will use the following criteria when reviewing nominations:
· The nominee’s competitive results demonstrating the athlete’s successes and improvement over the course of the season.
· Other notable achievements made by the athlete (club awards, school or community awards, outstanding contributions, etc.).
· Demonstration of the athlete’s commitment and contributions to the sport, club and community.
· Any exceptional circumstances and/or special challenges the nominee has overcome.
· Exemplification of sportsmanship/fair play.
· Up to two letters of support can accompany the nomination.
Coach of the Year Award
Synchro Swim Ontario acknowledges the outstanding achievements and contributions made by a synchronized swimming coach. This individual possesses the qualities we associate with performance excellence and sport achievement, good sportsmanship, and leadership within their club and community.
Nominations for this award must be submitted by a member club and endorsed by a club representative (board member or head coach). This award is typically presented at the Ontario Tier Championships Athlete Banquet.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
· The nominee must be a registered coach with Synchro Swim Ontario
· The nominee must hold a minimum CBET/NCCP Level 1 technical certification.
· The nominee must have coached with a member club during the current season
· Nomination must be based upon accomplishments achieved between May 1 of the previous season and April 30 of the current season.
· One application per club will be accepted in this category
The selection committee will use the following criteria when reviewing nominations:
· Assessment of coaching efforts as they pertain to results achieved demonstrating success and the improvement of the athletes coached.
· Other notable achievements made by the coach (club awards, school or community awards, outstanding contributions, etc.)
· Demonstration of the coach’s commitment and contributions to the sport, club and community.
· Any exceptional circumstances and/or special challenges the nominee has overcome
· Exemplification of sportsmanship/fair play.
· Up to two letters of support can accompany the nomination.
Volunteer of the Year Award
Synchro Swim Ontario acknowledges the outstanding achievements and contributions made by a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the establishment and/or ongoing development of a club, organization, facility, project and/or special sport program in synchronized swimming in Ontario.
Nominations for this award must be submitted by a member club or Synchro Ontario Official and endorsed by a club representative (board member or head coach) or Synchro Ontario Official’s Representative. This award is typically presented at the Ontario Tier Championships Athlete Banquet.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
· The nominee must be affiliated with a member club who has volunteered and made contributions between May 1 of the previous season and April 30 of the current season.
· The nominee must be an individual who has made significant strides in synchronized swimming in one or more of the following categories:
a. Promoting the sport
b. History of involvement in the sport and performance as an official or administrator, and that
builds or develops the sport.
· Only one application per club will be accepted in this category.
The selection committee will use the following criteria when reviewing nominations:
· The nominee’s history of involvement, commitment and contributions to the sport of synchronized swimming within Synchro Ontario, their club and/or community.
· Other notable achievements (club or community awards, outstanding contributions, etc.)
· Any exceptional circumstances and/or special challenges the nominee has overcome.
· Up to two letters of support can accompany the nomination.
