Markham girls are in sync with junior nationals

One Markham resident and a former Unionville swimmer made an impression in the Etobicoke Olympium pool by earning positions on the Canadian junior synchronized swimming team when they competed at the Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships.

Courtney Brown, a 16-year-old Markham resident who swims with Olympium Synchro, and Caitlin Stewart, a 17-year-old Unionville native who currently resides in Huntington Beach, Calif. and swims with Synchro Optima, will represent Canada at the Pan American ASUA Junior Synchronized Swimming Championships in Orlando, Fla. Aug. 18-21.

At the 2005 Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships, Brown and Olympium Synchro partner Meredith Mason finished sixth in junior duet.
