Quebec wins Gold for the Duet Finals
WHITEHORSE (Yukon) - The first Finals were held this morning at the swimming
pool. The facility was full of parents and fans cheering the competitors.
Jessica Chase, Sydney Olympics Bronze Medalist in the Team event, was also there
to cheer on the teams.
In flight A, Quebec finished 1st and took the gold with a Final Score of 78.038.
Ontario followed in second place with a score of 75.582. Team Alberta came third
with 75.127. All three duets swam very well and the coaches were extremely happy
with the performances. Flight B was also won by Québec (77.872) followed by
Ontario (74.407) and Alberta (74.144).
Lagrange from Québec said: "The Quebec Duets swam very well technically and both
performances were totally up to our expectations". The Ontario Head Coach, Elena
Podolsky, was extremely pleased: "our two Ontario duets increased their
confidence and were able to finish in a better position. They enjoyed their swim
and, really, this is what really mattered". Alberta's coach, Vanessa Bray, was
also very happy with what she saw in the pool from her Team : " both duets swam
fantastic and the flight B girls did amazing".
More Finals are on tonight and tomorrow morning. The Team Final will be held
