Canada walks away with one gold, three silver

OTTAWA – The United Airlines Open at the University of New Orleans Aquatic Centre in New Orleans, LA. Wrapped up Saturday and Canada faired quite well.

Finals were held in each event Saturday and Canada’s National Team was able to walk away with its fair share of hardware.

Canada’s Jessica Outhwaite and Tanya Matson took home gold in the duet final after posting a final score of 91.167. Earlier this year Outhwaite and Matson were crowned Canadian national champions.

The U.S. duet of Kate Hooven and Becky Kim finished second with a score of 90.334, while Janet and Jennie Culp, also of the U.S., were third with a final score of 89.751.

In the solo final Canada’s Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon was edged out of first by American Kim Probst who posted a final score of 92.084. Boudreau Gagnon had a mark of 91.417. Aleksandra Lazovic of the Seattle Synchro Team finished third with a final score of 83.084.

Despite a strong swim Canada finished second in the team final. The hometown Americans took home the gold posting a final score of 92.751, while Canada received a final mark of 91.417. The Walnut Creek Aquanuts came in third with a score of 86.667.

In team combo Canada walked away with a silver medal after posting a final score of 93.333. The U.S. edged out Canada for gold with a score of 93.500. The Riverside Aquettes finished third with a score of 87.500.
