Battle for first continues between Canada and U.S.

OTTAWACanada and the U.S. continue to battle for supremacy at the United Airlines Open at the University of New Orleans Aquatic Centre in New Orleans, LA.

The U.S. sits first in the duet and combo event and maintained its lead after the solo and team free, but Canada is close behind and is determined to make a run for first.

The U.S. finished with a routine score of 92.833 after the team free with Canada a close second with a mark of 91.167. The Walnut Creek Aquanuts are a distant third with a score of 85.167.

In the solo event Kim Probst, of the U.S., edged out Canada’s Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon, of Riviere-du-Loup QC. Probst picked up a final score of 91.251, while Boudreau Gagnon had 91.000. Aleksandra Lazovic of the Seattle Synchro Swim Team is in third with a score of 81.001.

Saturday will be a busy day for the Canadian team with finals taking place in all events.
