Junior Duet gets things started at Junior
World’s
OTTAWA -
Canada faces tough competition
on the opening day of the 9th World Junior Championships
in Moscow,
Russia.
The
event kicked off with duet preliminaries. A total of 24
international entries entered the five-day event.
Canada’s Eve Lamoureux, of
Longeuil,
QC, and Annie-Claude
Lemay, from Montreal,
QC, sit fifth with a score
of 91.600.
The
Canadians will need to catch
Russia’s Alexandra Eltchinova
and Svetlana Romashina who sit first with a routine score of 95.700,
while Japan’s Chisa Ichikawa and
Takako Konishi are in second with a score of 93.800. The American
duet of Christina Jones and Annabelle Orme make up the top three
with a score of 92.100. China currently sits
fourth.
Canada’s team was also in
action Wednesday as the team preliminaries took place.
Canada is currently tied for
fifth with Italy with both receiving a
routine score of 91.600.
The Russians are first
with a score of 95.800, Japan is second with 94.100
and the U.S. holds third place with
a routine score of 92.700.
China is in fourth with a
score of 91.800
Canada returns to action
Thursday with the solo preliminaries featuring
Canada’s Elise Marcotte, who
is in her first year with the national team. The Free routine combo
will also take place later in the day.
