Marcotte wins bronze in Solo
OTTAWA - The 9th World Junior Championships in Moscow, Russia wrapped up Sunday with Canada making a final run at the podium.
 With only two events remaining, the solo and team combo, Canada had to be at its best to return home with a medal.
Elise Marcotte, a first year national team member, entered the solo final sitting in fifth place, but after a solid performance 
managed to move into third for the bronze medal.
The 15-year-old faced some strong competition, but she had an excellent swim and was rewarded for her efforts.
Marcotte received a final score of 84.599 for her routine. Russia’s Natalia Ichtchenko held on to first place with a final 
score of 89.902, while the U.S. moved into second as Christina Jones posted a final score of 86.346.
In team combo Canada entered the final tied with Italy for fifth and finished the event in fifth.
Canada swam well and earned a final score of 91.900, but was edged out by the Italians who received a final mark of 92.600.
“We all felt great after that final swim,” said Canadian head coach Sherry Roberston. “That was definitely one of our best at the competition. 
We feel really good about our performance.”
The Russians, who won gold in every event, posted a mark of 96.600 to pick up their fourth gold medal of the competition. 
Japan won silver with a score of 94.900 and the Chinese were third with a mark of 94.000.
