Burlington Synchronized Swimming Club's select team won a gold medal at the 2005 Easter Atlantic Divisional Challenge in Nepean last weekend.

The team finished first in the four-team competition, outpointing the Fredericton Synchro Club 69.957 to 66.998. Teams from Gloucester and Guelph also competed in this division.

The competition, hosted by the Gloucester Synchronized Swimming Club, featured more than 300 elite athletes from Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces vying for divisional titles in compulsory figures, solo, duet and team competition.

Athletes were also attempting to qualify for the Canadian Open championship May 12-17 in Calgary or the Canadian Espoir championships June 1-4 in Saskatoon.

In the Tier 6 preliminary duet championship results for open and 15-and-under competitors, Stephanie Saunders and Alicia Worlidge finished 21st.

Meghan Danielson was 46th in the Tier 7 junior figures, Hilary Baines was 69th and Katie Gandy was 71st.
