Synchro Canada announces 2005 team
CALGARY (CP) - Five members of Canada's 2004 Olympic team
are among 12 swimmers named by Synchro Canada for the 2005
world aquatic championships next July in Montreal after two
days of trails involving 32 candidates.
Olympians Nicole Cargill of Regina, Courtenay Stewart of
Unionville, Ont., and Montrealers Anouk Reniere-Lafreniere,
Marie-Pierre Gagne and Jessika Dubuc are on the team.
Joining them will be Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon of
Riviere-du-Loup, Que., Tanya Matson of Coquitlam, B.C.,
Megan Poss of Waterloo, Ont., Jennifer Song of Calgary and
Isabelle Rampling of Burlington, Ont., who all were on the
national B team this yeawr.
Dominika Kopcik of Surrey, B.C., and Anastasia Polons'ka
of Montreal of the national junior team also made the grade.
"This is a very exciting time for Synchro Canada," CEO
Scott Stevenson said Friday. "Having the opportunity to
compete in Canada will be extremely special for this team."
